  Our new #1 favorite BBQ in Westport, KC!!!!  WE absolutely love everything about this restaurant.  Their menu has a wide variety of brunch meals served til 2 with some tasty drink options!  Check their menu!  Also for dinner options!
  We chose Burnt Ends w/Sweet potato fries, sausage & pulled pork with baked beans.  Everything was flavorful & no extra sauce is needed, but if you like it HOT, there's a bottle you should try on your table top!  The food was almost like eating candy it was so good!  Needless to say, there wasn't any leftover!  
  Drinks we'd order every time are: Hound Dog-vodka w/grapefruit that has smoked sea salt on the rim..if I could buy some of that to go, I would!  His choice-Dunkel beer! There's plenty of choices on tap.
  The bar area isn't that big & the only place you don't need to stop at hostess stand is belly up at the bar!  The sports TV's are local channels only & there's quite a few TV's hanging around.  We enjoyed watching football as most everyone else did.  Go Chiefs!!  
  We drive from Omaha, NE a few times a year & believe me, we'll eat here every trip!  I look forward to coming back in warmer weather to sit outside on the patio with all the fun activities that I've seen kids playing.

  Food was really yummy and flavorful, but for some reason...on a day of chiefs football and on a weekend brunch day, there was only one waiter for the entire patio.
  
  It took what felt like an eternity for a waiter to even show up. A while to get water. Even longer to get our orders... but oddly, food came out insanely quickly.
  
  I opted for the two meats: jackfruit and turkey breast. Side of broccoli slaw. Gluten free naan. With what came, it was a bit pricey...
  
  Jackfruit was.... ok. I had never had that before. I took one full bite and did not eat any more of it. Turkey was sliced thin and juicy. Naan bread was fine, and I used it to make turkey sandwiches with their spicy bbq.
  
  Would try again.

  We are currently sitting in the restaurant area. Party of 6. It has been 24 minutes and we have yet receive our drinks. Ridiculous. Everyone around us has been served. Our waitress took our order about 10 minutes ago...we will update if service gets better...not looking good.
  
  45 minute update: we got drinks but still no appetizers
  
  55 minute update: received all food at once, appetizers and meals. Hush puppies were like warm. The rest of the food was very good but the portion on the side of potato salad was very small.
  
  We requested the Mizzou game and were told that they did not have that channel. About an hour in, the game was put on. Not sure if someone else requested it or not.
  
  I spoke to the manager Ryan about the service and he did apologize for the bad service. He suggested that his server Olivia who is usually a rock star must've been having an off day. Once Olivia came to our table she was great, the overall wait time was just the biggest problem. There just seemed to be a miscommunication about who was taking care of our table. Ryan was very kind and took 50% off of our $200 bill.
  
  Overall, the food was good but the service was mediocre. It seems like other tables around us had a different experience. Not sure if we will be returning.

  Char Bar has an extremely fun outdoor atmosphere. It's great for groups. It also has a terrific beer selection, local beers included. The service was good.
  
  The food is the reason for the four stars. Being in KC and doing BBQ is a tough business. I certainly think there are better options. I ordered the Mac n cheese with burnt ends as an appetizer. It was the best part of the meal. The brisket was chewy, the ribs were skimpy. The BBQ sauce itself was tasty. We did have a person who was a vegetarian and adored the jackfruit bbq option; so there's that.
  
  I would go back for drinks for sure!

  Great location, great venue. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very helpful at helping me select a beer and food. They were also very friendly. They had a nice selection of beer.
  
  I ended up getting their burnt end appetizer and the cheesy hush puppies, which were both incredible. That was the perfect amount of food for me. The flavors in both dishes were spot on.
  
  There weren't many people there as I was there before the dinner crowd, but I could see the potential for it coming to life at night. They have a nice outdoor space for getting drinks and playing lawn games.
